About the Canada Pavilion Event Program

The Canada pavilion events program will reflect the dynamism and breadth of Canada’s climate action at all levels of society, domestically and internationally.  It will be comprised of approximately 65 individual events (ranging from 45 – 90 minutes) over the duration of COP29.

The Canada pavilion events program will also have the following guiding pillars:

  1. Ambition: Highlight Canada’s ambitious climate commitments, feature Canada’s innovation in the clean tech and energy spaces, and leverage Canada’s international leadership on climate finance to drive further climate ambition in developing countries.
  2. Implementation: Demonstrate Canada’s commitment to implementation through concrete actions, including the National Adaptation Strategy and the Emissions Reductions Plan, and highlight Canada’s actions to address climate change, biodiversity loss, and plastic pollution.
  3. Partnership: Showcase Canada’s whole-of-society approach to climate action and implementation through the inclusion of a diversity of voices, interests, and perspectives, such as those of Indigenous Peoples, provinces and territories, municipalities, civil society, youth, business, academia, foreign governments, and international organizations.

About the Canada Pavilion Event Space

The Canada pavilion will be located in the blue zone of COP29 (requiring accreditation to attend) and will consist of both an events space and a networking space. The event space is expected to accommodate an in-person audience of about 30-40 people. It will not allow for virtual participation in events.

The event space can accommodate a wide variety of event formats, including but not limited to keynote addresses and announcements, armchair dialogues, panel discussions, roundtables, case studies, workshops, and receptions. The event space can also accommodate visual presentations and film screenings (slides, video, etc.).

The networking space can accommodate a smaller variety of events such as short promotional videos as well as attraction type-events (e.g., art exhibits) and experiences (e.g., receptions).
