National Research Council Canada

Through federal investments in 2022 ($192M over 7 yrs), the NRC, Canada’s flagship federal research and development organization, is accelerating the decarbonization of the construction sector at scale. The NRC has launched strategic programs to reduce GHG emissions from construction processes and materials, transform the entire construction value-chain towards digitalization and increase productivity through offsite manufacturing. To showcase national examples of GHG emissions reduction, the NRC will be leading a panel discussion of experts, including case-studies, from the Cement Association of Canada, EllisDon, and Properate to discuss low-carbon cement and concrete, and the utilization of digital construction tools for GHG emissions reduction of large buildings and residences. Collaborative discussion during the panel will lead to strategic R&D and tool-sharing opportunities with other countries at COP29.
