Canadian Labour Congress

Work is starting on the first Canadian Sustainable Jobs Action Plan. Canadian unions have called for a comprehensive Green Industrial Strategy developed through social dialogue. The EU approved a European Green Deal in 2020, and following the most recent EU elections it’s expected that there will be revisions and changes the program. The discussion will focus on the evolution of green industrial strategies, including the EU Green Deal, Canada’s clean investment ITCs, Canada’s and Germany’s coal transitions with a focus on employment, skills and training, and transitions. The panel will discuss the evolution of these strategies and focus on changes in the EU Green Deal and Canadian SJAP. The panel will highlight worker and union experience with existing programs, including objectives, operations, and outcomes and discuss priorities going forward to refine objectives and operations to achieve better outcomes.
